Friday, March 19, 2010 -- A smug Fulham fan is rare sight but last night Hammersmith was bursting at the seams with them. NFL jerseys
After being taught a lesson in European football by Juventus in Turin last week, few gave Fulham a sniff of overcoming the 3-1 deficit as they welcomed The Old Lady to The Cottage for the return leg.
Roy Hodgson spoke out in the week, declaring his team were still in the tie, but after just two minutes of last night's match it seemed as though David Trezeguet had ended all hope for the West London side as he struck to put the Italians 4-1 up on aggregate. The UEFA Europa League match betting odds suggested things were over and done with.
But then something strange happened. Fulham rose up like a phoenix from the ashes and proceeded to attack and destroy Italy's most successful side.
Firstly, Bobby Zamora did his World Cup claims no harm, after shrugging off a former World Cup winning captain in Fabio Cannavaro, and finishing with what is becoming typically clinical fashion.
After being beaten from pillar to post by the majority of the media, the majority of away fans and, earlier this season, even some of the Fulham faithful, Zamora is in the form of his life and might have to cancel his planned holiday to Las Vegas in June, instead hopping on a South African bound plane instead.
Fabio Cannavaro's evening ended prematurely when he brought down Zolten Gera and having seen red, the 36-year-old Cannavaro may be sent out to pasture come the end of the season. He has certainly looked a shadow of his former self this term, although as is the trend with Italian centre backs he may play on till 46.
After Fulham hit the woodwork twice the Hungarian Gera nicked another goal back when he scored just before half-time. The former West Brom player then sent the home fans wild by levelling the tie with a penalty before Clint Dempsey - for my money the best Texas export since ZZ Top - delicately placed the cherry on top of this European cake with a sublime finish straight from the top shelf.
With a final score on the night of 4-1, Fulham have somehow pulled off one of the most surprising comebacks in recent history, and Roy Hodgson has almost certainly secured himself a place in Fulham's history. He has raised his profile to an almost god-like status among the Craven Cottage faithful.
Fulham will now face Wolfsburg in the next round of the competition and the online betting makes them joint fifth favourites to win the trophy.

The UEFA Champions League Is Down To Four
Reigning European champions FC Barcelona must go into the continental semi-finals as the hot favourites after the latest round of midweek results. NFL jerseys
The 2009 FIFA World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi, was simply stunning Barcelona's 4-1 quarter-final second-leg triumph over Arsenal at the Nou Camp, scoring all four goals for the Spanish club who had to come from behind to win.
Messi's performance was simply sublime prompting teammate Xavi to say: “Leo is on another level completely from every other player in the world. He is in a different class.
“If you are lucky, you might find a player like this coming along every quarter of a century. To hit four goals in a match like this is outrageous, marvellous.”
Subsequently, betting outlets across Europe have slashed Messi's odds to win a second consecutive FIFA World Player of the Year.
Some journalists are even claiming if he guides Barcelona (and even Argentina at the World Cup) to titles later this year then he should be considered one of the all time greats.
And Barcelona's chances of becoming back-to-back European champions have been increased by the exit of English heavyweights and last season's beaten finalists Manchester United. Also bowing out in the final eight were French champions Bordeaux,

NFL Union Leader Upshaw Dead
Thursday, August 21, 2008 -- Gene Upshaw, who was a Hall of Fame NFL guard, has died ofSoccer jerseys
pancreatic cancer. Upshaw, who was president of the pro football players union for 25 years, was instrumental in helping players attain free agency and better salaries.
Upshaw, who was an 11-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowl selection, played offensive guard for the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders from 1967-1981. He played in three Super Bowls, winning two and became a Hall of Fame member in 1987.
Upshaw, an intimidating presence on the field, stood six-foot-five and weighed 255 pounds. The Raiders chose him in the first-round of the combined 1967 AFL-NFL Draft. With the Raiders, he started 207 games straight. He played in a total of 217 regular-season contests.
In 1983 after retiring as a player, Upshaw, who was a NFL Players Association (NFLPA) bargaining committee member when with the Raiders, became the executive director of the union. He guided the players through their 1987 strike and fought to create anti-trust legislation against the league. In exchange for free agency, the NFLPA accepted a league salary cap. The deal that Upshaw brokered gave the players a larger share of league revenues.
At times, players felt that Upshaw was too soft in dealing with the league. Matt Stover, Baltimore Ravens kicker, had recently instigated a movement to replace Upshaw as the NFLPA executive director. He was hoping to have him step down and a new union head in charge by March 2009.
Upshaw noted that he did not want to resign until he had negotiated a new collective bargaining agreement with the owners. He said, "I would never leave until this deal is done."
Upshaw is survived by his wife, Terri, and sons, Justin, Daniel and Eugene Jr.

Overview
Head coach Ken Whisenhunt (8-8) had a decent rookie season in 2007. One thing everybody learned about Whisenhunt was that he was willing to take risks. He went for it on fourth down 14 times and made the first down a dozen. Whisenhunt, who did have problems with play calling and clock management, proved to be the real thing. With his tough, disciplined approach, this team could be a contender forSoccer jerseys a wild card spot.

New York Giants Go 4-0
The Giants have had a fine running attack, spearheaded bySoccer jerseys Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs is averaging a hefty 4.9 YPC and has had one touchdown. Running back Derrick Ward is averaging a very fine 6.8 YPC.
Defense
Although the Giants’ offense has been effective, it’s their defense that has been, like last season, potent. The team’s yards allowed is first in the NFC. They’ve given up just 254 rushing yards (second in the NFC) and 503 passing yards (first in the NFC). Their 43 points allowed is by far the best around with Carolina holding second place in that category with 70. The club has accumulated 13 sacks. DT Fred Robbins leads the club with four quarterback takedowns behind the line of scrimmage, while DE Justin Tuck has three. The defense has also made 12 tackles for a loss.
Conference Competition
The Giants possess the best record in the NFC and play disciplined ball. Will New York go 16-0? No, they won’t, but they have a good shot at winning the division and getting back to the Super Bowl. Of course to do so, they are going to have to contend with a few tough NFC East opponents.
The Dallas Cowboys offer a fine tuned offense and a tough as nails defense. They have one of the deepest rosters in the league. The Washington Redskins have improved greatly since the Giants saw them in week one. The Redskins lost that initial contest but have been extremely successful since then. Both teams are 4-1. Although the Philadelphia Eagles are 2-3, they field an effective offense and a good defense.
The Skinny
For the Giants to continue to be effective, their defense must continue to dominate opponents, especially at the line of scrimmage, and their offense has to play mistake-free ball. If they can do that, they will be winners more times than not.
Last year’s Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants, look to be for real. The team is perfect in its first four games, and they are outscoring opponents 31.7 to 12.2 points per game. In their contest this week, versus the Seattle Seahawks, they dismantled their opponent, beating them 44-6. New York is not a powerhouse when it comes to scoring, their point total ranks them 11th amongst 16 teams; still, they certainly score enough to win.
Here are a few other important season stats.
Offense
Eli Manning in four games has thrown for 765 yards, going 65 of 107 (60.7%) and tossing four touchdowns. He’s thrown one interception and has been sacked four times. Manning’s rating is 91.1. Those are decent stats. Manning’s single interception ties him for second in the league. That may be the most important offensive stat thus far. The fact is that Manning has been prone to making mistakes in the past. Late last season and throughout the playoffs, he appeared to mature, making better decisions and becoming a more adept leader.
On the receiving end, Plaxico Burress has averaged 14.4 YPC and caught one TD, while Amani Toomer, who also has one score, is averaging 11.0 YPC. Toomer, who is 34, has been in the league 13 years. Burress is 31 years old with nine years in the league.

History of Basketball
THE FOREFATHERS
The 50s saw the end of one great dynasty and the beginning of an even greater one. It saw the fathers of soccer jerseys the NBL fade away only to be replaced with some of the NBA抯 first true superstars. The decade also saw some hard times, and it also saw some very good times. It was a time of short shorts and no dunking, and great innovations into the game.
50-51
When the 49-50 season ended everyone had high hopes, those hopes were soon dashed when the Chicago Stags, the St Louis Bombers, the Anderson Packers, the Sheboygan Redskins, the Waterloo Hawks, and the Denver Nuggets all either disbanded or left the league. Despite the losses the league continued on with it抯 remaining eleven teams, but it suffered another setback when at mid-season the Washington Capitols closed their doors leaving the league with just ten teams. On November 22, 1950 in a game between Minneapolis and Fort Wayne, with the Lakers leading 18-17 at the half, the Pistons held the ball the entire second half, until Larry Foust scored a lay-up with six seconds left to give the Pistons the 19-18 win; The Game still remains the lowest scoring game in NBA History. The NBA also added a new innovation; the annual All-star game was first played in Boston on March 2 of 1951.

NFC Division Playoffs: Cardinals Vs. Panthers
Thursday, January 8, 2009 -- On Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 8:15 PM, the Wild-Card winning and NFC West championship Arizona Cardinals will meet the Panthers of Carolina in a NFC Divisional Playoff soccer jerseys
game. The Carolina Panthers, who won the NFC South, are coming off a bye week and should certainly be rested..
Team Stats
Against the Falcons, the Cardinals fielded a decent running game and a fine defense—neither of Soccer jerseys
which was very consistent in the regular season. This is a team that scored an average of 27 PPG and also allowed 27 PPG. Versus Atlanta, the Cards scored 30 but limited QB Matt Ryan’s team to 24. The passing game is still the predominant aspect of the Cardinal offense.

The Panthers averaged 26 PPG in the regular-season and limited opponents to 21 PPG. When these two teams met in NBA Jerseys
the regular season this year, Carolina won 27- 23, almost notching its averages exactly. This is primarily a ground attack team.
Personnel
It all starts and ends with veteran QB Kurt Warner. In the Wild-Card game, Warner was solid, hitting 59% of NBA jerseys his throws and tossing two touchdowns and one interception. Wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin had one score each. There’s concern in this contest as Boldin may not play due to injury. Edgerrin James helped establish the ground game versus Atlanta and the Card “D” showed up and played well.
Panther QB Jake Delhomme had a good season after coming off of Tommy John surgery. He’s not great but he is stable and productive. He’ll be passing to Ugg Boots
Steve Smith and Mushin Muhammad; between them, they had 11 touchdown grabs and over 2,300 yards. Three-year vet DeAngelo Williams, with 18 rushing TDs, is a dynamic force. The defense must stop Warner.
Keys to the Game

Arizona
*The Cards’ defense must show up and play.
*The running game doesn’t Cheap Ugg Boots
have to be great but it does have to be.
*Kurt Warner can make things happen.
Carolina
*RB DeAngelo Williams needs to have a big game.
*The Panther defense must stop Warner.
*Delhomme can’t outgun Warner but he has to play like the vet he is.
My Pick: Arizona by 10.
