Topline leads Red Wings past Stars Modano

In 20 seasons as the face of the franchise of Star North Stars Modano has 557 goals and 1359 points, the most by an American-born player in NHL history.
The 40-year-old Modano was a free agent in the summer and if the stars do not offer him a contract he signed a one year contract on 5 August with the Red Wings, his hometown team.
Modano had never been in the hall during his 16 seasons to visit Dallas, but he knew where to find them.
Modano leads No. 90, not a family member No 9 with the Stars. Detroit is always # 9 Gordie Howe, whose numbers are retired 12th March 1972.
