If any of the 22 players moved by the Packers on Saturday are feeling blue, they should remind themselves of how many former Packers play for the Vikings right now. The Packers waived 22 players and placed two on injured reserve to reach the 53-man roster limit by nfl jerseys
Saturday's deadline. Many of the moves were expected, some had to be difficult, and a few hint that the Packers could still make moves this week.
Here is the full list of players let go by the Packers: QB Graham Harrell, OL Breno Giacomini, OL Chris Campbell, OL Evan Dietrich-Smith, TE Spencer Havner, WR Patrick Williams, WR Chastin West, WR Charles Dillon, WR Jason Chery, RB Kregg Lumpkin, DL Ron Talley, DL Anthony Toribio, DL Jarius Wynn, LB Alex Joseph, LB Cyril Obiozor, LB Maurice Simpkins, LB Anthony Levine, LB Robert Francois, P Chris Bryan, CB D.J. Clark.
Safety Will Blackmon and OL Allen Barbre were placed on injured reserved and will be waived once an injury settlement is reached.
The Pack answered some questions definitively with these moves. Tim Masthay will be the team's starting punter. Masthay has been more consistent than Bryan and really pulled ahead in the final days of camp.
On the offensive line, Allen Barbre and Breno Giacomini are finally facing the consequence of the spectacular failure to perform at the beginning of last season. The return of tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher and the development of Indianapolis Colts jersey
T.J. Lang and rookie Bryan Bulaga made both Barbre and Giacomini very expendable.
There are also some surprises in who the Pack didn’t cut. Rookie CB Sam Shields, OL Nick McDonald and LB Frank Zombo all made the team despite facing long odds. While McDonald and Zombo figure to be only backups, Shields could play an important role as nickel back in Dom Capers’ defense. Also battling for the spot are CBs Pat Lee, Brandon Underwood and Jarrett Bush.
The biggest surprises on the list are Havner and Blackmon. The Packers are loaded at tight end with Jermichael Finley, Donald Lee and rookies Anthony Quarless and Tom Crabtree. Havner, who had seven catches and four TDs a year ago, was simply the odd man out.
Cutting Blackmon, and the end of Minnesota Vikings jersey
the week-long Jason Chery era in Green Bay, signals the Packers could be in the market for a return specialist. Jordy Nelson and Brandon Jackson are the most likely candidates at the moment. If the Packers can find a quality nickel back who can return kicks on the waiver wire, they're likely to sign him.
