Portsmouth told to pay Spurs Begovic compensation
LONDON (AP)—The Premier League says Portsmouth must pay Tottenham 1 million pounds ($1.6 million) following the aborted transfer of goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

join Spurs in January, they also agreed that Portsmouth would have to pay Tottenham compensation if Begovic—whose planned move to White Hart Lane later collapsed — left Pompey for another team.
Begovic eventually moved to Stoke but Portsmouth then went into administration and has since disputed whether it still owes Tottenham compensation.
The Premier League says Portsmouth, which is now in the League Championship, is obliged to pay 1 million pounds.
BELGRADE, Serbia (AP)—New Serbia coach Vladimir Petrovic says he will keep most of the key players used by his predecessor, Radomir Antic, although he also plans to introduce a few new ones.
Petrovic was presented on Friday, two days after Antic was fired.
Petrovic’s first game in charge is the European Championship qualifier against Estonia on Oct. 8. Four days later Serbia plays in Italy.
Serbia has four points from its first two qualifying matches.

SAO PAULO (AP)—Brazil coach Mano Menezes says there is reason to worry about the recent problems of young striker Neymar.
Neymar was fined and issued a public apology on Thursday after cursing and offending his teammates and his Santos coach after not being allowed to take a penalty kick in a Brazilian league match a day earlier.
Menezes has told Globo TV that his first reaction to what happened is of “preoccupation.”
